WHAT IS LASIK ?

Lasik is an abbreviation of Laser in-Situ Keratomilleusis, the method uses the Laser Excimer to adjust the shape of the cornea to treat refractions: Myopia, Hyperopia, Astigmatism. It’s one of many vision correction surgeries that work by reshaping your cornea, the clear front part of your eye, so that light focuses on the retina in the back of your eye.

WHAT IS SBK LASIK ?

SBK Lasik (Basic Lasik) is one of the most common refractive treatment methods being applied at many ophthalmic hospitals worldwide.

In SBK Lasik surgery, the surgeon will use a Moria SBK (Sub-Bowman-Keratomileusis) scalpel to create a thin layer of cornea, then use a laser to remove myopia. After the laser is performed, the cornea base is washed and the corneal flap is put back in place. Corneal flap created by microsurgical knife will be attached to eye cornea without stitches.

LASIK surgery is essentially pain-free and takes only about 15 minutes for both eyes. For most people, improved vision without the use of glassess or corrective lenses can be experienced immediately after the procedure. The results — improved vision without eyeglassed or contact lense — begin immediately after the procedure and vision usually continues to improve and stabilize over a few days.

The success rate of LASIK is extremely high at 96%, with most patients experiencing 20/20 vision or higher. Like other types of refractive surgery the LASIK procedure reshapes the cornea to enable light entering the eye to be properly focused onto the retina for clearer vision.

HOW IS LASIK SURGERY PERFORMED?

First, your LASIK surgeon will create a very thin, superficial flap in your cornea with a small surgical tool called a microkeratome or with a femtosecond laser. The surgeon then folds back the hinged flap to access the underlying cornea (called the stroma) and removes some corneal tissue using an excimer laser.

Excimer lasers create a cool ultraviolet light beam to remove ("ablate") microscopic amounts of tissue from the cornea to reshape it so light entering the eye focuses more accurately on the retina for improved vision.

For nearsighted people, the goal is to flatten the cornea; with farsighted people, a steeper cornea is desired. Excimer lasers also can correct astigmatism by smoothing an irregular cornea into a more normal shape.

After the laser ablation reshapes the cornea, the flap is then laid back in place, covering the area where the corneal tissue was removed. The flap seals to the underlying cornea during the healing period following surgery. LASIK laser eye surgery requires only topical anesthetic drops, and no bandages or stitches are required.

Advantages of Lasik SBK:

+Using micro-surgical knife installed on the machine, so the accuracy is high, the thickness is stable and safe.

+Corneal flap thin 90- 110µm so the remaining cornea is very strong.

+The layer of cornea is created very thinly so there is less damage to the nerve to help reduce complications such as: dry eyes, glare, halos, difficulty driving at night.
